Expensive Style at a Great Price

If you are hesitant to purchase this desk don't be. I was skeptical because I could not fully see the quality from the online photos but I am extremely happy with this desk. The table surface fits my all-in-one printer flat panel monitor telephone and desk accessories with extra room to spare. This desk does not feel cheap considering its price. Similar styled-desks are fetching double the amount at Pottery Barn. The drawers slide out smooth and the knobs are metal with an oiled-bronze finish. The top surface is not wood but a melamine finish which is great for wiping up fingerprints or accidental spills. One word of advice is to shop around online by doing Google searches. There are many online furniture stores which sell this desk (shipping included) much cheaper than Amazon. Also you may find better deals by purchasing the matching chair and hutch a-la-carte from different online dealers. Poor construction

This desk broke the first day it was in my house! The drawer is actually supposed to pull out (for a computer keyboard presumably) -- the drawer face is supposed to rotate out 45 degrees to lay parallel to the drawer's bottom. Upon receiving the desk however I couldn't get the drawer to open -- until the whole desk face CAME OFF in my hand. Wouldn't purchase it again or recommend it to anyone.More detail ...

Great buy - versatile

There are a few great things about this desk

-Sturdy

-Good Value for Price

-Real wood

-Easy to put together



But the best thing is that I have a laptop and so when I have people over in my apartment I can store the laptop in the keyboard tray and throw a table runner on it to make it a functional and nice looking side table. I liked my first one so much I bought a several more!

I bought my first one of these desks for my guest room (only 12 x 10). I needed a desk that would accomidate my 19" monitor but had a pullout keyboard tray and matched my natural wood decor and floors without taking over the room. I also live in the southwest so the style fit in with our existing decor plan without breaking our budget. It was pretty easy to put together (30 - 45 minutes) with very simple tools. My first one has served me well for about a year. The only problem is that I need to tighten the frame as the keyboard tray slips off occasionally. There is only minimal room for paperwork books etc. I find it excellent for my needs of surfing the net paying bills and propping my feet on while watching TV. I would rate it a 5 if there was no way to hide computer cables. A back panel that extends most the way to the floor would really have helped. I hung a towel the color of our walls behind the desk and that does on OK job of hiding cable running from the CPU to the monitor and they keyboard. Mousepad space is tight so I put mine on the keyboard tray and increased my mouse speed. Target has several other Mission style furniture items that match the desk for reasonable prices. I bought 2 smaller computer desks that have room only for a monitor for our second computer and my my computer at my office. They also have had 2 different styles of matching shelves. I bought (4) 3-tier shelf sets and (1) 4 tier shelf set. The best thing about these shelf units is that they come assembled. You simply fold out the shelves and thats it. These shelf units are amazingly sturdy. Finally I bought a desk organizer that fits onto the desk reasonably well.More detail ...
